Russia has stated that they will oppose the GMO of Monsanto and will ban fully the GMO in their products. The deputy PM Arkady Dvorkovich said as far as this is the hot topic, their decision is precise. He claimed this on the international conference of biotechnology.
It is known that in the USA, more than 90% of the crops (corn mostly) is GMO and of the soybeans 94% are GMO, while cotton is also 94%. For Russia, this is a hotter topic than it is for USA of course.
The president, Vladimir Putin, thinks that he can shield off the GMO from Russia and at the same time while being in compliance with WTO (World Trade Organization) rules.
In a meeting from recently, he addressed the Russian Federation Board Council and said that much work needs to be done with the WTO. Even with that fact, Russia has enough methods and aces to win this and set it in motion.
Is this possible in USA? We have to wait and see.
