A study published in “Life Science” found that a derivate of sweet wormwood plant can kill 98% of breast cancer cells within 16 hours.
People have long used artemisinin as an antimalarial remedy. Now researchers have found that it can kill cancer, too. They added iron to subjects. Iron tends to accumulate in breast tissue or “infected” cells. Artemisinin goes after the abnormal cells and it doesn’t even “touch” normal body cells.
Healthy cells have the same receptors, and the only difference is that cancer cells have tons of them which is why they’re easily targeted by artemisin and iron.
Chinese have long used artemisinin to treat malaria. Parasites can’t thrive in the presence of artemisinin. Bioengineers Henry Lai and Narendra Singh at the University of Washington came to this conclusion. Their research showed that the extract triggers cancer cell death or apoptosis.
The extract is too expensive, but the price may go down as it becomes quite popular. “Sanofi” releases 50-60 tons of Artemisinin every year. Will this be enough to meet everyone’s needs?
